MR. GENEROSO BERTOLIN AGUSTIN

Chairman

Mr. Generoso Bertolin is the Chairman of Arabian Cement Company and its subsidiaries. He began his career in 1992 with the construction company Bertolin, S.A., and two years later joined the management team of Cementos La Union. In 2003, he was appointed Chairman of Cementos La Union Group. Mr. Generoso holds a degree in Business Management, which he obtained in 1992.

Mrs. Elena Bertolin began her career in the cement industry in 2009, gaining extensive experience across nearly all business and technical aspects of the sector. She joined Cementos La Union Group and its subsidiaries as a Board Member in 2015.

Mrs. Elena holds a degree in Industrial Engineering with a specialization in Industrial Management from the Superior Industrial Engineering School at the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia, Spain.

Managing Director & CEO

Mr. Sergio Alcantarilla graduated in 2001 from the Faculty of Industrial Engineering at Seville University, Spain, and earned his Executive MBA with honors from IE Business School in Madrid, Spain, in 2015. Mr. Sergio was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Arabian Cement Company (ACC), Egypt, in 2016. In this role, he is responsible for strategically leading and managing the company’s ongoing operations, investments, and growth plans. He first joined ACC in November 2009 as Plant Manager and Member of the Management Committee. From 2012 to 2016, he served as Chief Operations Officer and Member of ACC’s Executive Committee, overseeing operations at the company’s plant in El Ain El Sokhna as well as managing the projects and procurement departments. During this period, he also played an active role in the preparation phase of ACC’s IPO in 2014. Prior to joining ACC, Mr. Sergio worked at Cementos Barrero in Spain from 2002 to 2009, where he participated in the erection and commissioning of new facilities during the project phase and later served as Production Manager and Technical Director. Earlier in his career, he was a researcher in the Chemical and Environmental Engineering and Fluid Mechanics Departments at the Faculty of Industrial Engineering in Seville, publishing several articles on biomass energy generation in international journals. With more than 20 years of experience in the cement industry, Mr. Sergio is passionate about operational excellence, quality, and efficiency — not only in production but across all areas of the business.

Mr. Ricardo Vela

General Manager & Board Member of Cementos la Union

Mr. Ricardo Vela is a Board Member of Cementos La Union and several of its subsidiaries, including Arabian Cement Company, where he serves as General Manager. With more than 20 years of experience in the cement industry, he began his career at Cementos La Union in 1994 and has since managed the company while playing an active role in the international expansion of the Cementos La Union Group.

Mr. Ahmed El Sewedy

Board Member

Mr. Ahmed Sadek El Sewedy is the Chief Operating Officer of El Sewedy Industries Group and a member of the Board of Directors of El Sewedy Electric. He also serves as CEO of El Sewedy Developments, following his previous roles as COO and General Manager of El Sewedy Group – Industrial Sector.

Throughout his tenure with the Group, Mr. Ahmed has driven significant growth, bringing extensive industry leadership and executive management expertise in the fields of power and electricity. He is responsible for overseeing profitability, service quality, cost control, contract compliance, and risk mitigation, while building strong relationships with power and energy authorities as well as utilities.

Mr. Ahmed graduated from SOAS University of London in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in International Management of China, Business, Management, Marketing, and Related Support Services.

Mrs. Pakinam Kafafi

Mrs. Pakinam Kafafi is an energy expert and one of the cornerstones of TAQA Arabia since its incorporation in 2006. She brings 27 years of experience, including 17 years dedicated to leading Egypt’s largest private-sector energy distribution company.

In 2013, Mrs. Pakinam was appointed CEO of TAQA Arabia after serving as Group Chief Investment Officer, where she drove the company’s growth by acquiring and consolidating several gas distribution companies and expanding into power generation, distribution, and renewable energy. She first joined TAQA’s Gas Division as Strategy and Investment General Manager.

Before entering the gas industry, Mrs. Pakinam built her career at EFG-Hermes, where she served as Vice President of Investment Banking and successfully executed numerous privatizations and acquisitions in Egypt. She has also been recognized by Forbes Middle East for four consecutive years, most recently ranking 21st on the 2023 list of the 100 Most Powerful Businesswomen.

Mr. Ahmed Abou Hendia

Mr. Ahmed Abou-Hendia is the legal consultant for several well-known local and international companies, and acts as a personal legal consultant to several distinguished figures. Mr. Ahmed is a member of the Egyptian Bar Association “Supreme Degree”, the Union Arabs Advocates, the International Bar Association, the Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration, the London Court of International Arbitration, and the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt, among many more. He is also the Vice Chairman of First Arabian Development and Investment Company and Al Ahly for Development & Investment Company. In addition, he is a board member of a number of organizations, including the Housing and Development Bank, Egyptian Resorts, Speed Medical, and Cairo 3A International for Investment Company. Mr. Ahmed has graduated from the Faculty of Law at Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt, in 1987.

Chief Operations Officer

Mr. Maged Ismail is the Chief Operations Officer of Arabian Cement Company. With more than 20 years of progressive experience in the cement industry, he oversees ACC’s business operations and ensures the execution of the company’s business plan in alignment with its overall model and corporate goals.

Throughout his career, Mr. Maged has held roles in leading multinational organizations within the cement sector, gaining expertise in process optimization, operations and production management, as well as the design, installation, commissioning, and upgrading of greenfield projects across Egypt and the MENA region.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Cairo University.

Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Arturo is the Chief Financial Officer of ACC. He has over 20 years of experience in global strategic financial planning and analysis in multinational corporations and start-up companies, leading teams in multicultural environments across Europe, the USA, and MENA. Mr. Arturo has proven experience in managing major projects, risk analysis, cash flow forecasting and analysis, and allocating resources to achieve profits and business goals.

Prior to his role at ACC, he led and implemented large projects as CFO of Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas (FCC Group), including Abu Rawash Wastewater Treatment, El Alamein Sea Water Desalination Plant, and New Cairo Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Mr. Arturo graduated from Zaragoza University – Business School with a degree in Economics and Business Administration.

Mr. Waleed Lasheen

Chief Commercial Officer

Mr. Waleed Lasheen, Chief Commercial Officer of ACC, holds a master’s degree in International Business Administration from ESLSCA Business School. With over 20 years of experience, he has held strategic leadership roles in the cement, manufacturing, general trading, and IT industries. He joined ACC in 2023, following his tenure as VP of Sales & Marketing at Lucky Cement in Iraq and as Commercial Advisor at Yanbu Cement. Mr. Waleed’s extensive background also includes key roles at MCS Group, Lafarge Cement, and Abaza Group in Egypt. His expertise in sales, marketing, and strategic planning has significantly contributed to the growth and success of these organizations.
